Story
I'm raising £4,500 to help save the lives of 2 young cats.
The first cat in need of your help is Phoenix. Phoenix came in to our care on Bank Hoilday Monday after it was found he had been involved and badly hurt in a RTC. He had badly damaged his leg. Phoenix was owned by a young lady and was extremely loved by all the family. The decision to sign him over wasn’t an easy decision but the family could not afford to pay for his treatment.
He is only 2 years old and is a very handsome Black and white Tuxedo, Once Phoenix had been signed over to us he was rushed to our out of hours vet at Beacon VetCare. It was very apparent that he had a broken leg, so was rushed in for X-rays and scans to check he had no further damage.
Phoenix had no further damage but his leg was broken by his ankle which would require specialist surgery which was done by vet Colin Whitting. He had a procedure called a Pantarsal arthrodesis, also known as joint fusion or tarsal arthrodesis, this is a surgical procedure that fuses the bones within the tarsal (ankle) joint to eliminate movement and stabilise the area.
This surgery and the out of hours care and tests has come to £3,600.00, this is a very lathe bill that we need your help with. Phoenix is only really a baby and deserved the chance to keep his leg and find a forever home.
The second cat that is in need of help is Whisper. Whisper again is only a young cat at 3 years old. Back in January he underwent surgery to remove Urinary stones, also known as uroliths or calculi, these are common in cats and can cause a range of urinary problems. These stones are formed from mineral deposits that crystallize and aggregate in the urinary tract.
Whisper became very unwell again a few weeks ago and his owner who sadly he lost her partner suddenly to cancer less then a year ago had paid up to this point, including surgery in January £7,500.00. Whisper was admitted to do surgery to make him in to a female. After further tests the vet decided surgery wasn’t necessary at this point and wanted to trial a drug to help him pass urine. On Tuesday I received a call from his very distraught owner after she had been on the phone with the vet in charge of Whispers care that day, she has insulted Whispers owner and basically told her she was responsible for Whispers decline in health and she should consider rehoming him. He owner absolutely loves Whisper and her other cats and they couldn’t ask for a better home.
Whisper was rehomed by us 2 years ago. So being a previous CCCC cat we have stepped in after Whisper became poorly again last night and his owner was terrified to go back to her vets after the way she was treated, she called me in floods of tears as whispers was struggling to pass urine again. I made the decision that Whispwr would be taken to our vet after his owner who sadly couldn’t afford any further treatment. She only paid £3,300.00 to a vet that told her he would be having surgery but then just ran up this massive bill for further treatment and being kept in the hospital having a catheter inserted 3 times to drain his bladder and being sedated for this procedure to be done.
I rushed him to our vets for an urgent consult and it was found that Whisper was struggling again to pass urine. Our vet drained his bladder and he has an appointment today for further test one being a dye being put in his bladder to see if having a catheter inserted several times has damaged his urethra. Or if he has scarring from his previous operation which has caused damaged. This treatment will be in the region of £1,500.00.
With both boys needing emergency treatment and surgery we are in need of your help to pay for their procedures and give them a chance of a fresh start pain free.
So if you could donate just a £1 to help us with this bill we would be eternally grateful.
