Story

Friends, Family, Colleagues,

After running a few dozen half marathons (and realising I was not getting any younger!) I have mustered the courage to sign up for my first full marathon this October in the lovely city of Lisbon.

I have been passionate about running for years and wanted to use this opportunity to support a cause that I have become close too...

Last summer, between changing jobs I journeyed back to my native Pakistan to provide volunteer relief work in an emergency situation. My ancestral village in the district of shikarpur was inundated by devastating floods that went on to submerge a third of the country - a country with over ~220 million people.

I realised during this visit what I had taken for granted and what many of you may never have to worry about : access to potable drinking water. There are millions in Pakistan (and across the globe) that are drinking subsurface water with unsafe levels of dissolved solids, metals and sometimes even arsenic. This leads to stunted growth, high infant mortality and endless other perennial health issues...In short, this is stopping an entire generation of youth from achieving their full potential.

With this problem statement in mind that, my siblings and I went on to raise funds last year that were used to build an automated, solar powered reverse osmosis plant that today is providing clean drinking water to two thousand people --> please click here for details of our previous relief effort with pictures.

Our mission is to go on to provide more clean drinking water to as many villages as possible. To crawl towards this goal, I am raising funds to build an additional water treatment facility working with a trusted delivery Partner.

If you care about this please do consider donating. Your contribution big or small would go a long way in ensuring that a basic amenity is enjoyed by countless others in their pursuit of a healthy and happy life.

Kind Regards,

Usamah
