Ukrainian Social Club: Building Community and Supporting Ukrainians in Richmond and Hounslow
Founded in 2022 and now a UK-registered charity, the Ukrainian Social Club in Richmond and Hounslow has become a vital source of support for hundreds of Ukrainians rebuilding their lives after fleeing Russia’s full-scale invasion. Led by local Liberal Democrat member Alina Luts, the charity has grown into a thriving community organisation that offers practical help, friendship and opportunities to people starting a new chapter in the UK.
The Club provides a wide range of services, including support with employment, housing, English language learning, education, wellbeing and integration. Alongside this, it runs a vibrant programme of cultural, educational and community activities that helps Ukrainians maintain their identity while becoming active members of local life.
Working closely with Richmond, Hounslow and Kingston Councils, local charities, businesses and volunteers, the Ukrainian Social Club has built strong partnerships that benefit both Ukrainian families and the wider community. From youth theatre productions and community events to information sessions, wellbeing programmes and volunteering opportunities, the charity continues to bring people together and strengthen community cohesion.
As the war in Ukraine continues, the need for this work remains significant. Every donation helps the Club continue providing essential support, creating opportunities and ensuring that those forced to flee their homes can build safe, connected and fulfilling lives in our communities.
