🚴‍♂️ USCC: Pedal the Planet 🌍

May 9th – September 15th

This summer, the University of Stirling Cycling Club are taking on a massive challenge: cycling a combined 40,075km – the full circumference of the Earth – to raise funds and awareness for our Bikes in Rooms project.

Why?

Bringing a bike to Stirling can be tough. Up until now our members have been up against accommodation rules which prevents them from storing their bikes inside. This has caused issue between staff and the club, and forced members to break the rules to store their bike safely. Our specialist bikes need to be stored safely, in our rooms, to prevent them getting stolen. With the old system, members commented they didn't bring their bike in first year due to the rules, had increased stress due to bike storage and would have ridden more if the rules were different.

Our new Bikes in Rooms initiative has changed this, by helping students store their bikes safely in their rooms – unlocking the incredible cycling opportunities Stirlingshire has to offer. This project has created a cycling club exclusive contract with accommodation which allows us to store our bikes in our rooms contained in a bike bag. We hope this encourages more students to bring their bikes and stay cycling throughout uni.

With your help, we’ll purchase bike bags to make this possible. This means more students can bring their bikes to university without added cost.

We are looking forward to growing the club with this new initiative and showing new members the stunning cycling that Stirling has to offer.
