Story
After a rollercoaster of a year, most of us thought that 2020 had dealt it's last blow, and we could begin to put a difficult year behind us. However, for one Pool family, New Years Eve 2020 would remain in their memory for all the wrong reasons.
On the 31st December 2020, a problem with an oil fryer started a devastating fire in the Kernow Fish & Chip Takeaway in Pool. Despite a speedy response from the Cornwall Fire & Rescue Team, the fire had already savaged the Shop, and caused untold damage to the building and flat above; workplace and home of Nigel and Sheena Uslu, and their children Aziz and Jasmine.
Many of you will know the Uslu family in and around Pool, always friendly, welcoming and smiling; happy to help out friends and neighbours, and providing food and service to all those who use their takeaway business.
Unfortunately, the devastating events on the evening of 31st December 2020 have left them unable to live in their home; unable to open their business, or to earn money to support themselves; and with a lot of their possessions, some irreplaceable, damaged beyond use.
I know that the fantastic community of Pool want to help in anyway that they can, and have been keen to show their support to the Uslu's at their time of need. With that in mind, I ask that you consider giving anything you can to help this deserving family get back on their feet and to help replace just some of the items lost in the fire.
