I've raised £500 to support our student, Harvey Ryder, to continue printing face shields for the NHS and other key workers.

Harvey Ryder, a Year 13 student at UTC Leeds, has been using his 3D printer at home to create face shields for the NHS staff and other key workers - unable to volunteer for the NHS due to his age, Harvey wanted to help out in any way he could to support those on the front line during the Covid-19 pandemic.
After getting in touch with people in the local area who also have 3D printers, Harvey and three others have created and delivered over 700 face shields! These have been delivered to places such as the Bradford Royal Infirmary, Huddersfield Hospital, care homes, GP practices and pharmacies.
We are opening the UTC to Harvey for a few hours each day so that we can help him increase the number of face shields being produced. Harvey predicts that he could make around 500 shields a week using the printers in the college.
The shields are produced using PLA filament and then finalised by attaching an A4-sized PVC clear binder.
Any donations received will be used towards covering the costs of the filament and will be very much appreciated!
Thank you for your support.
