    Story

We plan to open a 24 hour community networking centre where people have somewhere to turn to in the times of crisis.
Vee's Place was set up as therapy for the managers depressive illness, having been through the system she knew only to well that after being discharged there was nowhere to turn so after retiring at the age of 60 she knew she had to be active somehow. After trying a number of clubs she felt people lacking in confidence (like herself) would not survive in these clubs so she set one up herself. It was never envisaged that within 6 months it would attract 300 members from all walks of life.
Of course it meant she was now faced with running a business (which she registered as a charity in 2002) despite many setbacks the centre has pushed itself to become a valuable community facility attracting the interest of the police, local hospital, health groups, youth groups, schools, residents and local authority.
After re-locating to a larger premises where we have a licence for the ground floor for another 6 years we want to purchase the building to enable us to transform the upper floor into a multi-function space to accommodate the arts, heritage, performing arts, drama, music, dancing, functions, games room and more.
As manager I have been passionate about this project (helping others to help themselves) for many many years and I have put my heart and sole into leaving it as a community legacy especially for the young people and mental health sufferers.
