Story
The Littlest rescue is very aware of the unnecessary risks of not vaccinating rabbits, and although we recommend for all our adoptees to vaccinate their new family members we would now like to vaccinate all rabbits that are under our care.
The UK has recently come under threat of a new strain of the RHD virus, now called RHD2. This disease is a fatal and contagious virus transferred through insect bites and direct contact through clothes, objects etc.
The current vaccine, Nobivac Myxo-RHD, is not sufficient to protect against this new strain of the virus. But a new vaccine has been developed to protect rabbits from the new RHD2.
This will mean that every rescue rabbit would need two vaccinations whilst in our care in their preparation for their new homes. Our main aim for this appeal is to begin a vaccination course for all of our rabbits which would include an initial dose of Nobivac Myxo-RHD followed approximately 2 weeks later with the Filavac vaccine against RHD2.
As we are just beginning this policy for all rabbits to be vaccinated, we are expecting to need an additional £800 over the initial introduction period for all of the rabbits currently in our care, which will fund approximately 40 vaccines.
With the help of all of our supporters and animal lovers we are positive that we will be able to provide this to every rabbit that comes through our door, giving them the best chance in avoiding these horrible but preventable diseases.
Many thanks also goes to Vets4Pets Emersons Green for their help with providing the vaccinations Myxo-RHD and RHD2.

I hope this will help with vaccinating the bunnies. You do such wonderful work, taking in all these unwanted and misunderstood bunnies. You are all angels there.
