Gillian Butterworth is our Daughter,she has a condition called Lipeodema. It seems that after many miscarried embrios see below* and two cessarian births Gill's body shape changed and was diagnosed with this condition that causes her legs to be swollen and even her arms ,so this is very painful and Disabling in itself causing back aches too.
Her husband Scott is Carer for her and the boys so is kept very busy.
Gill is taking so much medication each day for her constant pain. This is such a disabling condition and can run in families with swollen legs that make s it harder to walk. (see Lipoedema UK for info)
Taking medication in the past gave her side effects *. one of her drugs made her miscarry babies and it was thought they could not have children ,until she came off that drug. So after 8Years of Marriage along came our 1st grandson Nathan and 4 years later the second Jacob it was a miracle to us. They are 7 and 3 now and it is so wonderful to have grandchildren.
After all the pain and heartache Gill and Scott have coped very well needing bungalows to live in for the last 10 years because of her walking difficulty. She also falls when her legs give way because of the weight and recently hurt her tailbone bringing more pain on the spine.
With the use of her water bed to rest more comfortably she has to spend many hours away from the family who are in the living room. The children bring toys and books to play on the bed and have cuddles.
So Gill after referal from the doctor for this treatment on the NHS was declined by the hospital specialist in Northamptonshire who replied to her doctor to say that there is no funding for her .
