    Story

On the 1st July 2018, Valmik, Niamh and Ben will be participating a charity dog walk at Willen Lake.

To take part in the walk, you will be asked to donate an optional amount (it all adds up!).

More information about the walk, and regular updates, can be found at:-

    https://www.facebook.com/CharityDogWalk/

Donations pledged will be gratefully accepted and go to charities that mean a great deal to us – Carers MK, and Willen Hospice.

YOU CAN DONATE ON HERE, OR ON THE DOG WALKING DAY ITSELF. ALL MONIES RAISED, WHETHER ON HERE OR ON THE DOG WALKING DAY, WILL BE SPLIT 50:50 BETWEEN THE TWO CHARITIES.

Here is some information on the two charities of our choice.

Carers MK is an absolutely outstanding charity that helps vulnerable families in need. Carers MK was established in 2004 and relies on financial support the community.

Carers MK is split into 2 different sections. Adult Carers and Young Carers.

Carers MK support families that have family members

with illness or disabilities - mums, dads, sisters, brothers.. normal people affected by mental health. Issues such as mental illness, dementia, learning disabilities and serious life-long conditions.

Carers MK help families by providing emotional support to Carers, counselling, trips (Theme Parks, Zoos, football matches for example), and advice for caring at home. It even hosts monthly Youth Clubs for Young Carers to enjoy.

But, this comes at a cost of course. Carers MK are in desperate need of donations. Without the community’s kind and generous help in the form of donations and volunteering, Carers are unable to be provided with the funds required for the support they give, and provide some respite and enjoyment in return for what they give.

Your donations (and volunteering if you would like to get involved) help Carers fund different day trips, it allows the renting of different facilities and venues for the monthly Youth Clubs and different support groups where discussions take place on how to care for their family members.

Myself and Ben are part of Young Carers - we met in 2006 at the Carers’ monthly Youth Clubs. We have been friends since. Carers MK bring many different vulnerable Carers in Milton Keynes together.

It would mean the world if you could donate on this page. Any amount would be gratefully received.

The other charity we hope to raise money for is Willen Hospice, a charity also based in Milton Keynes.

Willen Hospice is an independent charity offering specialist care to individuals with life limiting illnesses.

A dedicated team of doctors, nurses, social care professionals and other health care staff, provide round the clock care to its patients and provide ongoing support for their families.

Being diagnosed with a life-limiting illness can often leave people in a lonely, uncertain, and confusing place, and Willen Hospice looks to give individuals comfort, help them find confidence, ease their pain and reduce their anxiety.

Willen Hospice offers an inpatient unit for patients to stay at the Hospice, a dedicated community team of Clinical Nurse Specialists and Hospice at Home staff, a Patient & Family Services team offering bereavement support and a drop-in Wellbeing Centre giving those not staying at the Hospice access to its services.

All of its services are offered free of charge.

Willen Hospice’s vision is to always be there to care but to do that they rely on the generosity and dedication of the local community. To continue to offer the care they do they need to raise £3.6 million every year – that works out at around £7 a minute every single minute from January 1st to 31st December. This is why we are trying to raise money for it!

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
