Story

Our beautiful and happy 11year old daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumour on the 27th August 2021, following on from a referral from the opticians for swelling behind her eyes. She stayed in hospital for nearly 2 weeks and underwent an 8hr surgery to remove about 80% of the tumour. The biopsy went sent off and a week later we were given the devastating diagnosis that our amazing girl had stage 4 brain cancer Glioblastoma Multiform. We were utterly devastated and cried all the way home from the hospital, it broke our hearts when we had to break the news to her, she was so brave and vowed to beat this. Grace is our oldest child, she has 2 younger siblings who adore her, she is their big sister. As a family it has really hit us and has been hard to accept, its an emotional rollercoaster of fear, pain, hope and love for our daughter. She is our superhero, and amazes us at how well she is doing with her treatment so far.

Grace is currently undergoing standard of care at a midlands hospital, her chemoradiotherapy is tough but she rarely complains, the staff are great and we appreciate all they are doing. However, this treatment on its own is not enough, to beat this aggressive cancer we need to take a holistic approach. We are shocked that this standard of care has been the same for such an aggressive brain cancer for the last 20 years. There has been success with repurposed drugs etc but this is not an option within the NHS especially for children, even the private clinics will not take on paediatric patients so we are having to look further afield for treatment. We have found a clinic in Germany called IOZK who offer immunotherapy, a pioneer treatment in the fight of brain cancers, this is not covered by the NHS so we must fund it our self. The cost for the diagnostics is around £9,500 and treatments and personalised vaccines cost between £11,00 and £25,000, she would need at least 3 vaccines along with other treatments such as electro hyperthermia.

Please help us fund this extra treatment for our beautiful daughter, please hep us get her to Germany so she has the best chance of beating the odds. Every penny will help her get one step closer.

Thank you
