I'm raising £800 to help rehabilitate hedgehogs, giving them the care they need to recover and return to the wild healthy, strong, and able to thrive.

Story

I am seeking to raise £800 to help support the ongoing costs of running Hawthorn Hedgehog Hogspital (HHH), a hedgehog rescue centre I have established with guidance and support from the Dumbarton and Burntisland Hedgehog Rescue Centres.

HHH was created to help protect one of the UK’s most beloved yet increasingly vulnerable native species. We provide assessment, health triage, appropriate medical treatment, and ongoing care for hedgehogs found by members of the public who are injured, unwell, or otherwise at risk.

Once a common sight in gardens and countryside across the UK, hedgehog numbers are sadly in serious decline due to habitat loss, road traffic accidents, pesticide use, and climate change.

Many people are unaware of the dangers hedgehogs face, or how everyday actions—such as strimming grass, leaving litter behind, or using slug pellets—can unintentionally cause them harm. Alongside rescue work, HHH also aims to educate the public by promoting hedgehog-friendly gardening, offering advice on safe handling, and sharing guidance on what to do if a hedgehog is found in distress.

Every donation will go directly towards helping us continue this vital work and ensuring local hedgehogs receive the care they need.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and for supporting Hawthorn Hedgehog Hogspital.
