    Story

This page aims to continue giving the mother and kids in the photo a good quality life, and we ask for your help to provide them with a home, food and a good education.

VCD Nepal is a non-profit NGO that gives help to people in local communities. We found Durga, the mother, and her two wonderful children, Aasish and Aarati, living in slum housing with a very low quality of life. Durga could not afford to send her children to school, and had to lock them in a room whilst she did chores at other people's houses to earn some money. VCD rescued them from there and gave them a home near to VCD's accommodation (the Lighthouse) where they can live together as a family. The kids now go to the nearby private school, and Durga can work whilst they study and then pick them up at the end of the day. The family are now very happy, and Durga sends her thanks to VCD and its supporters for enabling them to live as a family in a nice home and sending the kids to a great school were they can play and learn with other children. Aarati recently celebrated her 6th birthday at the Lighthouse, and she had never celebrated a birthday before so she and her brother were very excited by the cake and celebrations.

We ask for some more support so that the family can continue with their new life. VCD has arranged some more work for Durga, so she can support some of their food costs and other expenses. But we ask for volunteers to help us fundraise for the house rent and the children's school fees, which total $800 for a year. We also want to raise an extra $100 for medical expenses, because Aarati was not vaccinated when she was born so becomes ill a lot. It would be amazing if someone would like to become a sponsor and give regularly to the family, and please contact Bicky/VCD if you'd like to do this. The family are still in urgent need of our continual support though so please give whatever you can and the family will be very grateful. The family are so happy living their new life now so we hope that you will help them continue with it.
