    Story

We really need a vehicle to transport victims from the centre to the police to open a case, we need it to transport victims to hospital, court and do home visits.

The Green Door is a non-profit organisation that offers temporary shelter and support for survivors of rape and domestic violence in the township of Diepsloot, South Africa.

It is run single-handedly by Diepsloot resident Brown Lekekela , and is the only organisation of its kind in an area where poverty, unemployment and violence are huge problems.

The company I work for has a charity allowance, from which we donate to The Green Door project every month.

While these donations are welcome, they are in need of things that require some extra help.

The vehicle they are looking for will be a huge asset for the organisation, taking victims to hospital, to the police, and to court. An ambulance, as well as mode of transport. It is currently the organisation's priority when it comes to new equipment.

The vehicle they need will cost in the region of R250,000, approximately £13,500.

Any extra money raised will go towards building new rooms for victims. They are looking for 20 more rooms, which they need to properly accommodate the number of people that pass through the centre.

Please find out more about The Green Door and Brown Lekekela here:

Violence is a learned behaviour and I believe it can be unlearned.

The Green Door are in the process of building a website. As soon as this is ready, I will add it here.

I encourage you to Google Brown Lekekela and learn about his amazing, inspirational story, and about the help he has given to hundreds of victims.

The Green Door is registered as a Non-Profit Organization (NPO) under the name: Diepsloot Victim Lifeline | NPO number: 138-790
