Your average mayor might head up a town procession, but in Shaftesbury we like to step things up a little—or even a lot. Our Mayor, Virginia Edwyn-Jones, will be performing a WING WALK on a bi-plane at Compton Abbas Airfield on 2nd May 2026. She wants to raise at least £1,000 for her charity of the year, Shaftesbury Youth Club.

Sadly Virginia won't be wearing her robes and full regalia—we don't want to be searching the hills and dales of Cranborne Chase for the chain of office after the plane has executed a full 360.
