Story
I have been an inpatient at camhs psychiatric wards since November 2017. A key part in rehabilitation and my recovery so far is having theraputic activities to intergrate back into the community , find myself and keep my mind busy. Unfortuantley , from my experience, there simply isn’t enough funding in mental health services across the UK. Having been & still am an inpatient all over England in private and NHS hospitals(Manchester, London , Kent) , every hospital I have been at are struggling to fund activities.
There are some very difficult days in hospital , struggling to find a reason to smile again but always motivated to keep on being strong so I can take part in rare group trips out and ward based activities. Activities are a key part of our recovery , they help us fall in love with hobbies we can continue in the community , they give us a reason to continue. I like many others who have been in hospital for weeks, months or even years will understand how easy it is to completley relapse because we have nothing to keep us busy during the school holidays.
