Story
We couldn't resist picking her up from the street while staying in Turkey as she was a stray kitten with both hind legs broken. Upon treatment she started to walk and, when leaving Turkey, we left her with a lady who agreed to take care of her while we are looking for a new adoption family. But after several months of searching and posting no one expressed any interest in adopting her. We had to abandon this hope, feeling that for Turkey animals are mostly considered to belong to the street rather than domestic sphere. The lady who looks after the cat lost patience at having no visible end to it and asked us to find where to pass the cat until the end of May.
I don't want to give up, but want to bring her to the UK since no home awaits her in Turkey. The problem is that import of a pet from a non-listed country like Turkey takes minimum 4 months (make vaccine, after 30 days send blood sample to an approved clinic, than quarantine for 3 more months). We have found and contacted a pet hotel where she could stay during this time and which provides extra services like making the necessary vet visits. So this plan is possible, but a bit overwhelming for my student's income after all the previous vet costs. Therefore, I am trying to raise money to finally bring Bestia's story to a happy end:
- 6000 TRY x 4 months (pet hotel stay while being vaccinated and quarantined)
- 4000 TRY (blood test)
- 350 TRY (microchip)
- 300 TRY (vaccine)
Total 28650 TRY ~1160 GBP at the current rate
We have already sterilised her in the meantime - in fact, she managed to get pyometra on top of her life history of problems, so she required an urgent operation, which further delayed her vaccination. Now we intend to chip and vaccinate her as soon as she stops taking antibiotics and the vets agree that it's safe to do.
Thank you everyone who continue helping others during the cost of living crisis!
