THE CHAPLAIN’S CHALLENGE – 200 for 200 Raising £40,000 to heat St Peter’s Church, Framilode
Retired prison chaplain Vernon Lidstone, aged 82, will attempt to powerlift 200 kilograms on 25 April 2026 at a British Powerlifting Competition at Crazy Strength Gym near Salisbury.
In my last competition I lifted 182.5 kg – this time I’m aiming for a full 200kgs.
Together we can raise £40,000 to replace the church’s oil‑fired boiler (which is beyond repair) with a clean air‑source heat‑pump system and make the church warm and much more energy efficient.
The challenge symbolises staying active in later life, caring for the environment, and keeping faith at the heart of local life.
I’m inviting 200 people (or groups) to donate £200 each - a Gold Donation, (£1.00/ kg lifted)
There's also a Silver Donation is 50p/ kilo {£100), and a Bronze Donation is 25p/ kilo {£50)
Together we will be turning strength into warmth for our community
