I have always had a social commitment in my life.
Just to give you an example, I have volunteered for 5 years a a founder member/secretary of a French non profit organization acting in favour of a rural village in Madagascar. We succeeded building a basket ball pitch for the kids as well as improving their day- to- day life by bringing clothes, toys, school material etc... It meant two journeys on the spot and of course a lot of work to raise monies, organize events like car boot sales, concerts, lectures, and of course coordinating the whole stuff with our local correspondent. That was part of my job and I am proud I did it !
When I settled in the UK, I of course went on volunteering and I had the opportunity to help with Shoe Boxes, Cleaning for the queen or raising funds for the Foodbank.
However, I had a dream from a long time ago ; it was to join Mercyship, this famous floating hospital at the service of the poorest.
So, I met a surgeon who had serviced on board and I decided to apply...in 2015.
After a long way, I eventually boasted myself to be hired as a volunteer kitchen and dining room assistant from en July till early September 2017.
This year, the ship will be moored in Douala (Cameroon) and I bet it will be the most fascinating experience in my life.
However, all volunteers have to pay their travel expenses and a contribution amounting to $ 700 to cover the expenses on board.
That's why I would appreciate any contribution to my project !
