VESWY is a solidarity platform created to support those affected by the devastating floods in Valencia on 29th October 2024. Founded by Sonora Visions, El Club del Cuento, Dual Beat, Gaia Soul Events and music students at Edinburgh College, our mission is to raise funds for the reconstruction of damaged infrastructure and empower community recovery.

Our Story

It all began with a simple question: “What if we do something from Edinburgh to support Valencia?” From this idea, a group of strangers, including students and staff from Edinburgh College, came together to make a difference. As a result, we decided to organise two special events that will showcase the power of community and solidarity across borders, offering a unique opportunity to celebrate Valencia’s culture and directly support those affected by the floods.

Upcoming Events:

Music Marathon

• A donation-based event featuring Edinburgh College students solo artists, and bands of all genres

• Date: 19th March 2025

• Time: Starting at 12pm

• Location: Sighthill Campus, Edinburgh College

Charity Concert

• Date: 14th March 2025

• Time: 7 till 10pm

• Location: The Wee Red Bar

• Performers: Fingertraps / Bambitos / Shinlifter

• Tickets: £8 on Eventbrite / £10 at the door

Where Your Donations Go

We want to be transparent about how your donations will be handled. All funds received through our JustGiving page will first be collected in our designated account. Once the fundraising campaign concludes, we will transfer the full amount of donations to Horta Sud Foundation in Spain. This respected local organisation (founded 1972) is working tirelessly to support those affected by the floods and rebuild the community through grassroots initiatives.

By channelling the funds through Horta Sud Foundation, we ensure that your generous contributions directly reach those in need in Valencia.
