    Story

The Veterans Bereavement Support Service is a not for profit community organisation run by volunteers. The Veterans Bereavement Support Service was created by those who have served in the Armed Forces and Merchant Navy for those who serve and have served and to ensure that they have full access to a specialist bereavement support network at the time of need for their family and friends. Since its inception, the service has grown and through the massive network of professionals we are able to offer a comprehensive range of services that support people not just after they have lost someone special but also before, so that the support is available and that they can plan ahead.

We offer a bespoke service for families needing assistance with bereavement and support including advice on funeral care 365 days a year

We do not charge for our Advice and Information services and we are all volunteers.

We are a not for profit organisation run by Volunteers in a clear effective way and we are signed members of the Armed Forces Covenant. No one is paid to work for us and we ensure all of the donations that we receive are used for the benefit of veterans.

We need to raise funds to open a specialist support centre that has numerous uses and resources available to all those who serve and have served over the years and to achieve this we need to raise funds.

The centre will be home to our National Helpline and resource centre as we out grew the original small office and this helpline is available 7 days a week and provides invaluable help and support to all ex-service people.

We will also offer a local resource for face to face counselling, support and advice services in a private support room where people can talk openly and in confidence and not restricted to office hours.

We will also provide a series of drop in sessions and coffee mornings where veterans can socialise together and make friends that they often miss when leaving the services.

Our new PTSD service will also run from this new office and we will be launching our nursing home support service for veterans in the Autumn from this special support centre.

To make this centre happen, we need to raise money to cover the initial costs for the building for the first year, plus the provision of resources and equipment. We have resources to help towards this project in place and some funding for a part time coordinator and training of volunteers, but we do need funds to create the centre so that everything can happen and we can move forward.
