Story

The Pet Vet Lincoln's Head Vet, Sam Reitterer-Barbour created this charity appeal, inspired by a Ukrainian refugee that came into the surgery about a concern with her dog. She had rescued the dog several years ago, in Ukraine. He had been abused, and was not able to be handled when she first got him. She had spent years helping to dog, to the point where she was able to stroke him, and he trusted her. Sadly that all changed when Russia invaded, she was displaced and had to flee the country with her young daughter (her husband has remained to fight). She brought her dog with her, but the trauma of the invasion, vast journey and relocation has set the dog back greatly.

Seeing this caring woman, with her young daughter and traumatised dog, was distressing to see, and reinforces why we should do everything we can to assist in the fight for freedom in Europe.

Additionally, we would like to donate half of our fundraising efforts to the charity VetLife. VetLife is a charity we hold very close to our hearts at The Pet Vet and The Vet, it offers advice and mental health support to clinical and non-clinical veterinary professionals.
