Story

We have been approached by various members of the community with regards to the lack of bleed kits/24hr access around the Gleneagles & Vicarage Farm Estate, so have decided to fundraise for change.

We are initially fundraising for a bleed kit and secure cabinet to be fixed to the outside of our community centre on Grafton Close - thus allowing 24hr access; members of the public will be directed to the cabinet via the 999 service and will be provided with an access code. Centre staff can also provide access during trading hours.

We will be working with ‘Off the Streets NN‘ who fundraise to procure kits+cabinets along with community training, young persons activities and workshops within schools to help educate and make our streets safer with the aim to eradicate knife crime across the county.

What is a bleed kit? An emergency bleed control kit is a type of first aid kit designed to help victims of severe catastrophic blood loss. Injuries like deep stab wounds, lacerations, amputations, and other accidents resulting in extensive haemorrhaging could mean the casualty has seconds before it’s too late.

A person who is bleeding can die from blood loss within five minutes, therefore it is important to quickly stop the blood loss. Those nearest to someone with life threatening injuries are best positioned to provide first care - hence the necessity to have community accessible bleed kits in close proximity.

All donations, minus JustGivings fees, will go direct to purcahasing kits & secure cabinets.
