The Vicious Cycle was born out of need. As part of the UK PMDD Support group - we see the daily impact of lack of awareness (by the public and also health care professionals). Sufferers are regularly let down by the current system - often with devastating effects. Women are undiagnosed, misdiagnosed and left without adequate support.

1 in 20 women suffer but it’s rare to meet a GP who has even heard of the condition. GPs are the gatekeepers to information for women, but many women are left to suffer alone for years being told they have mental health problems when in fact they have hormone sensitivity due to a genetic malfunction.

We will educate sufferers and give them the tools they need to get the correct help from their Doctors. We strive to change the system - to make PMDD heard and stop women going through unnecessary suffering. We will do this by lobbying, networking, working with the media and other organisations. We are also working to make menstrual tracking part of the process when diagnosing bipolar and PME.

We are building a website, producing literature, speaking to professionals, working with NAPS (UK) and the Gia Allemand Foundation for PMDD (International). The resources we produce will initially apply to the UK and then they can be lifted and used in different countries as needed.

We have an amazing task team - we are all sufferers doing all the work ourselves in our free time. None of this money raised will go on salaries - it will ALL be put towards resources and training and all expenditure will be monitored and can be reviewed by anyone who wished to see it!

We are in the process of applying for funding and registering as a CIO which is VERY exciting!
