Story

With an incredibly heavy heart I can confirm Emma very sadly lost her battle with the c**t that is cancer yesterday. To say it’s been difficult is a huge understatement. This page is still active tho and any donations received will go directly to Paul, her husband for their son and his future without his mum ♥️ thank you so much to every single person who contributed and sent well wishes. I know Emma appreciated every single one 💔 xx

I am creating this fund raiser in support of one of my oldest and dearest friends Emma.

Emma is 43 years old and she is mum to a very newly 7 year old Jake.

Emma was diagnosed in January 2019 with a very aggressive Nodular Melanoma which is now stage 4. She has already undergone 2 major surgeries including a neck dissection, where they removed 45 lymph nodes, however the cancer continues to return and Emma has become resistant to the treatments.

Due to the original site of the Melanoma being on her scalp and the reoccurrences being around her face, she, only days ago had to undergo a further 18 hour surgery.. no less than an internal reconstruction of her face and ear using arteries, nerves and skin from both her arms and leg!! In clinical terms she underwent a radical parotidectomy and radical forearm flap reconstruction as well as nerve grafting from her leg to her eye.

This extensive surgery is most likely to leave her unable to eat or drink properly, causing a facial droop and requiring a weight to be fitted to her eye in order for it to close etc. What a woman she is!!

The cancer Emma is fighting is very aggressive and fast growing having already returned twice, should it return again following this surgery the final option via the NHS would be combined immunotherapy. Emma has received immunotherapy in the past but her experience was not a good one as it in fact caused rapid progression of the cancer. In short, the success of this treatment is worryingly low, even more so since removal margins were not met on this latest removal.

At this stage we have no other option but to look at what else is available out there to help Emma fight this cruel and wicked disease, but as you can imagine private healthcare comes at a huge price £! Consultations alone starting at £500.

After a lot of research we have found a cancer profiling test called Guardant360 (not currently available on the NHS) This blood based test matches patients with advanced cancer to Clinical trials currently available in the UK. The results of this test would give the chance of being matched with the best clinical trial possible.

However this test alone costs in excess of £2,500.

There are also specialists in this form of cancer worldwide, such as Dr Jason Williams in Mexico who is an immunotherapy expert and Patricia Pete as Cancer options to name just 2.There is Naturopath, who specialises in intelligent healing that Emma may benefit from too but again all carry a price!

Treatment options are out there and its beyond wrong that you need money in order to gain access to them!!

If I were in a financial position to cover these costs on Emmas behalf, she’d be fixed up already but unfortunately that’s not the case.

Any help to cover these essential costs could quite literally be life changing!.. so please, if you can, dig deep
