I have been extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to join the Professional Field Guide Course at the Mahlahla Game Reserve in the Limpopo Province of South Africa.
Having completed my BTEC Extended Diploma in Animal Management, part of this course was 2 weeks work experience at Shamwari Game Reserve in South Africa supporting their Conservation Experience Program. I was lucky enough to participate in this and it was a life altering trip.
Having been accepted at Merrist Wood College to continue my academic work in Animal Management, I have now been chosen to train as a Field Guide at the Mahlahla Game Reserve in the Limpopo Province of South Africa. Merrist Wood College have been very supportive in agreeing to defer me so I may accept this exciting opportunity.
I have always had a strong passion for working with and helping all animals, starting from the age of 12 when I began volunteering with Animal rescue and sheltering charities which has molded my plans for my future.
The time I spent in South Africa working with the wildlife and local school children has given me the drive to work to return to South Africa to continue my studies towards professional qualifications as a Field Guide. I am highly motivated to make any contribution to the support and conservation of the wildlife in South Africa and hope you would be kind enough to help me in my goal.
