Story
Dina lived with her husband and 4 children. Her husband travelled away a lot for work, but they weren’t work trips....he was living with his other wife and children. All the money he and Dina earned and saved together for their children went to this secret family. He left Dina and their 4 children with nothing. No money, no home, no food, no father. They were on the streets.
Jill, a good friend of mine living in Kampala heard what happened and found Dina a job as house help. This has given Dina enough money for food and shelter, and the 2 hour commute to work every day. However, she is unable to afford schooling for her children (or any medical care). In Uganda the government don’t provide any financial support towards education, medical, housing etc. Unemployment is extremely high, and unless you earn money, you have literally nothing.
Vivian is Dina’s eldest. She has just 2 years left of school. She is a top straight-A student with high hopes of getting a job at the end of graduating.
I am looking to raise as much as I can to cover Vivian’s schooling fees for Dina. The cost to cover her remaining education up until graduation is £1,045.
100% of the money raised will go directly to Vivian’s school fees via Jill who works with MAF ( http://www.maf-uganda.org/ This is not a registered charity, hence crowdfunding). Anything in addition will go towards the NGO I worked with supporting homeless teenage street boys – the ‘forgotten ones’. Considered too old to rehome/rehabilitate, yet too young to live the rest of their lives on the streets (“the exact number of street children in Kampala is unknown, simply because nobody cares”)
I know so many people are raising money for different (all amazing) causes right now. But if you can spare any donation /change/ anything you can afford to go towards one of the most beautiful kind hearted strong and loving mothers I’ve met, to give her daughter a chance at a better life, it will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!!
