Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
My best friend since Primary School, not very academically minded, was always told he'd be a failure. He's a grafter and at 14 began working weekends for a local Tree Surgeon and left school at 16 to work for him full time, for not very much money, all of which went to his Mum (RIP). He's never been out if work and at 18 he started purchasing second hand tools to do extra work on top of his full time job and eventually set up on his own - to provide affordable Tree Surgery/Garden Services, etc to local families.
2 months ago his lock-up was broken into overnight and almost every tool/machine that he had collected over the last 20+ years was stolen. Some insured (still chasing for the money to replace them!) and some not (older but still extremely valuable to him) all were used frequently and desparately missed. I've not seen him as heart-broken since his mum passed 6 years ago.
He has been able to continue working through friends in similar work lending him tools as and when but I would like to able to present him with the funds to replace some of the more specialist saws (i don't know anything about them but big, Stihl, and vital to his work).
I think the total value of what was stolen was in excess of £6000 but if I could raise enough to replace some it would mean the world to him and fix a broken man.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
