Story
Having (very luckily) received a ballot place for London Marathon I wasn’t tied to any charity or fundraising targets and for this reason, I wasn’t initially going to ask for sponsorship.
However, following the tragic events that took place in Southport in the summer and after a lot of thought, I made the decision to take the opportunity to help two very special local charities. Both home grown and both playing a huge part within our community.
The first charity that I’d like to share is CompassionActs. Having worked with this charity closely with my own business, it’s clear what an unbelievably amazing team they have. The support that they provide is above and beyond. They receive no funding from the government and are ran solely on donations and partners. Offering food parcels, warm spaces and financial advice throughout the year, they provide a vital service within the Southport area.
Our second charity is Elsie’s Story. Running children’s workshops in Southport and surrounding areas, we understand the impact the the events of last year had on the community. And we can’t even begin to imagine the effects it had for the families involved! Out of this tragic time came Elsie’s Story, a charitable trust that is giving back to the local community, supporting local community projects and helping young people.
I will keep you all posted on my training, updated on the fundraising and more importantly, sharing the final figures to be donated.
Thank you, much love and warm wishes,
Vickie
