Story
I was watching the documentary on BBC 2 about heart transplants called ‘A chance to live’ where it gave me a insight to how terrifing it is when the one organ that keeps you alive can just fail at any moment. On this documentary they demostrated some incredible equipment where usually the donor hearts start to deteriorate as soon as they are removed from the body. Doctors can now combat this with Ex Vivo Perfusion, a technique which keeps organs alive outside the body. They have done this by using a heart chamber, it is some impressing equipment if you ask me. But it made me aware that they are limitied to just one of these machines. Which is shocking. But it‘s true when we say nothing is for free. I dont know about yourself but I personally know people who may need a new heart in the future. And if this equipment will change the sucess rate of a transplant being successfull. Then I am willing to give anything ago to raise money to give to our amazing NHS to enhance their equipment.
Thankyou.
