Hello everyone,

Milly Pickles is a student at Bournemouth University and great player to the Universities women’s lacrosse team. Milly went to work where she was on placement completely unaware of how her life would suddenly change on the 29th of September 2017. Milly was later that day rushed to hospital fighting for her life and legs after being electrocuted with 750 volts passing through her causing the loss of her right leg and many painful devastating injuries. The electrical current entered her right heel, through her leg and pelvis, then down her left leg and out of her big toe causing the loss of her toe. As something luckily prevented the current entering her spine to her brain, making it an absolute miracle that she is still alive. Her life has completely changed from the simplest things like her shoe size going from a 7.5 to a 4, to her having to completely learn how to walk and stand again. Milly is continually fighting and showing how she is one of the strongest girls we know and in support of her brave journey Bournemouth University Lacrosse Club have decided to host a range of fundraising events to raise money for Milly to get a prosthetic blade and supporting charities. Prosthetic blades cost thousands of pounds (around £6,000) and can’t be given on the NHS, it will be so significant to Milly’s life now as she is determined to eventually get back into sport again and this will be the only way. As the BULC family that we are, we are determined to raise as much as possible in aid of the prosthetic blade. Milly has received her prosthetic leg and is working hard to regain balance, walk and achieve her goals, however in order for Milly to do exercise and play lacrosse again she would need a prosthetic blade and is therefore so important to her! And us!

Milly is an outgoing, kind and beautiful person and it would give us great honour to be able to provide support and contribute to her prosthetic blade and so, BULC have set up this fundraiser not only to help financially but emotionally as she continues her journey with us all right by her side and would be eternally grateful for any support anyone can give.
