This year I am running the Great North Run to help raise funds to support the Whitley Bay Squaws Women's Ice Hockey Team
The only Women’s Ice Hockey Team in the North East and the longest running.
As the female counterparts to the well-known, semi-professional Men’s team, The Whitley Warriors, The Whitley Bay Squaws are completely independent and self-funded in all aspects, therefore, as much as our passion and drive fuels our team on the surface, behind the scenes we are limited each season by the covering of a multitude of costs.
These costs range from home and away shirts, socks, training slot costs, referee costs, coach and travel hire, game day ice costs, off ice merchandise and team wear, insurance, registrations and monthly team subscription as well as the individual costs each player must commit to for purchasing a full protective kit.
Any money raised will go towards helping the team achieve their goals for this coming season.
