Story
We are a small group of Foster Carers living in the Bracknell Forest area. We have been running a support group for Carers employed by the local council and have recently decided to establish ourselves as a charity so we can expand our level of support, not only to other Carers, but to the Looked After Children in our care, as well as our families and support networks.
Our aim is to continue to help local Carers, through bespoke training sessions and peer-to-peer support. We will do this by using funds to invite guest speakers to our support events who will cover topics that are the most relevant to us, which will benefit our placements and provide the best possible care for them.
We will also provide opportunities for local Carers, their placements, support networks and close family who reside within Bracknell to socialise and unwind. These events will help strengthen bonds with each other and will in turn provide greater flexibility with respite care, which will lead to more stable placements and less moves for children in our care.
We will be doing the Five Palaces Walk again this year to kickstart our fundraising. Starting at Hampton Court Palace, we will walk the 26-odd miles to the Tower of London, stopping at Kew and Kensington Palaces and the Banqueting House Whitehall along the way.
