Story

We are raising £10,000 for Vidya Jyoti, a UK-registered charity dedicated to improving opportunities for disadvantaged communities through education and development initiatives.

On the 28th of April 2026, Sam, Managing Director of UCH Logistics, will be trekking to Everest Base Camp in Nepal, reaching an altitude of 5,364 metres, where oxygen levels are roughly half those at sea level. Sam is using this challenge as an opportunity to raise awareness and funds to support the important work Vidya Jyoti carries out.

About Vidya Jyoti

Vidya Jyoti works to create brighter futures for disadvantaged children and communities by supporting long-term development through education and community initiatives.

The charity supports a wide range of programmes including:

Education initiatives for disadvantaged children

Healthcare support for vulnerable communities

Clean water and sanitation projects

ICT learning facilities to help young people develop modern skills

Community development programmes that support sustainable progress

Through these initiatives, Vidya Jyoti helps provide the resources and opportunities that enable communities to build better futures.

The Challenge

The Everest Base Camp trek is one of the world’s most iconic high-altitude journeys.

Over approximately 12 days, the route begins with a flight into Lukla, followed by trekking through the Himalayas via Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, Lobuche and Gorak Shep, before reaching Everest Base Camp.

The route involves challenging terrain and high altitude conditions, making it a demanding expedition and a fitting opportunity to raise awareness of the charity’s work.

Company Commitment

UCH Logistics has supported Vidya Jyoti for more than six years, helping contribute towards a number of the charity’s initiatives.

Importantly, Sam is personally funding the entire expedition, meaning 100% of donations made through this page will go directly to the charity.

How You Can Help

If you are able to support this challenge, please consider making a donation. Every contribution helps move us closer to the £10,000 target and supports the work Vidya Jyoti continues to do for disadvantaged communities.
