Weʼre raising £1,600 to help Vincent and Uriah start their businesses in Ghana

What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

I lived with a Ghanaian family for 10 weeks while volunteering at a local women's empowerment organisation. My host brother, Vincent and his friend, Uriah are finishing their apprenticeships soon and I want to help them by raising 10,000 Ghana Cedis (£1,600) so that they can begin their own businesses.

Vincent is a talented tailor, and is hoping to buy a good sewing machine with the donations. He is incredibly kind and sewed me a matching outfit! In Ghana it is very common to have clothes made, especially in amazing colourful patterns.

(Junior, Vincents youngest brother, donned his favourite Vincent shirt and had a photoshoot with me during my stay)

Uriah is a skilled carpenter who is going to invest in machinery for his new workshop so that he can continue to create amazing beds, wardrobes and even build houses!

Last week, my dad attempted to prove to the world that he could eat a pizza in a minute, a claim that he had proudly made last October. Finally, we were able to see this miracle... or not see it. His shop and workshop team laid their bets to see how long it would take him. The final time was: 3:02!! (it seemed the thick crust slowed him down) And although he didn't manage to do it in a minute, I appreciated the effort and together the shop raised £ 54.07! Thank you for all of your support so far!

I volunteered with International Citizenship service in Ghana for 10 weeks on a female empowerment project. I care about continuing to make a difference to the people I met and lived with, which is why I want to raise money for Vincent and Uriah, my host brother and his friend.
