Story
St.Joseph Senior Secondary school is a community school with 23 members of staff paid by government and 300 students. There is one uncompleted classroom and the rest study under trees and others in church. It is the only secondary school in sopsop sub-county that has a population of 10000 primary school children. The community is supposed to contribute and build classrooms but due to low incomes we have failed. 80% of the population here cannot raise even $0.5 in a day. Most of the students move long distances to get education and in the process risk their lives and also high rate of dropout. many girl students end up getting pregnant and become child mothers because of inaccessibility of school. 70% of the population is illiterate or with very low education. Without this school 60% of primary school children will not access secondary school education. Therefore low skills, low income, poverty, sicness, death and other social evils.
