Worcester Athletic Club's high jump squad are already feeling the benefit of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games legacy – a full 2 months before the Games even begin.

As part of the Perry Barr stadium refurbishment, the Club has been able to acquire an international standard high jump bed valued at approx. £5,000 for use by the whole community (athletics club, school and college) at the Nunnery Wood track. We now need your support to help raise funds to purchase a rain cover for the bed to help maintain its condition.

The squad will attempt to collectively jump double the height of the Worcester Cathedral tower (a total of 124 metres) in a single 2-hour training session on Thursday 26th May.

Any help you can give with sponsorship will be very gratefully received and if you want to come along and support the athletes on the night then you are more than welcome to join us from 6:30pm!

Through the squad‘s earlier efforts and with your amazing support we have already surpassed our original target of £1,200 which will fund PVC rain covers for both the new bed and the existing one.

However, we’ve done some research and MAY be able to apply for a sports grant that will match our crowd fund donations. For this reason we have to set our target to the total amount required (£10,000) and apply for the grant at the appropriate time. There’s no guarantee at this stage that our application will be successful but we have to try.
