Quickmove's Marathon Walk for Ki

This year’s Quickmove Properties fundraiser involves walking the canal track as a team from Devizes in Wiltshire to Bath in Somerset. This is to raise much-needed funds for a local lad paralysed in a bicycle accident this summer.

The Quickmove team are fundraising on Sunday 17th October in aid of Ki New, a 20-year old from Fairford, Glos.

In July 2021, Ki was rushed to hospital following a bicycle accident, where it was confirmed he had broken and dislocated his back, damaging his spinal cord and paralysing him from the neck down.

Following 6-hour emergency spinal surgery he was told he may never walk again. His pathway since then has been incredibly challenging both physically and mentally as this fit, active and outgoing personality comes to terms with his new reality.

Anything to support Ki on his recovery journey would mean the world to him and his family, especially as there are significant costs associated with his recovery and adapting to his new needs.

Based in Royal Wootton Bassett in Wiltshire, Quickmove specialise in helping customers make a hassle-free house move in retirement. Chairman Steve Abbley explains why the team chose to undergo this very worthy fundraising effort:

‘The Quickmove team have been fortunate to largely stay healthy and active during 2021, however, many like Ki have been less fortunate. We hope to raise a meaningful amount to aid his recovery and bring him some additional comfort for his day-to-day life.’

The Quickmove team are walking the marathon-length canal route either in stages or tackling the full distance as individuals in a testing, day-long challenge. Your support is greatly appreciated.
