Story

Connie is 3 years old. She is always smiling, a real ray of sunshine who simply loves life and has one of the most contagious laughs, you simply cant help but smile when you're with her. She is the daughter of Rob and Caroline and little sister to Elliott. Caroline is simply the most lovely person you could ever meet, selfless, kind and absolutely hilarious! I'm lucky to call her one of my oldest and closest friends.

In July 2019, following medical investigations into the cause of a fit, the family recieved some devistating news. Connie was diagnosed with Batten disease. It’s a neurological degenerative brain illness that causes regression and eventual loss of all brain function after taking her sight, the ability to walk, eat, swallow and giving her dementia. She might not be here at 6. Devastated was an understatement.

There is no cure for Batten's but there is medication that can dramatically slow down the effects of the disease and significantly improve both the quality and length of little Connie's life. This medication is not currently available to Connie on the NHS. Since her diagnosis, Caroline has dedicated her time to two things. The first is fighting for Connie's right to the medication that will ultimately save her little girl's life and the second is to ensure Connie lives life to the full, making memories and making dreams come true. This is why I have set up this page.

My aim is to raise money for Connie and her amazing family to be able to provide Connie with the fun and experiences she deserves without worrying about the cost.

Initially, to help raise funds, a few close friends and I, together with some of our children are going to walk 7 miles of the Meanwood Trail in Leeds on Saturday 24th August 2019. Starting at Woodhouse Moore and finishing with a picnic with Connie and her family at Golden Acre park.

I would be very grateful if you could donate whatever you can to help this most precious little lady experience the most full and exciting life she deserves.

Thank you for taking the time to reas Connie's story. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.
