Hail Hail! The John Clark and Tommy Burns Jersey CSC are raising £1,967 to contribute towards the creation of a statue in memory of John Clark in his home village of Chapelhall.

Born in Chapelhall in 1941, he remained closely connected to the area throughout his life, running several local businesses before later moving to nearby Holytown.

The bronze statue will be created by acclaimed London-based sculptor Douglas Jennings and will be inspired by the iconic image of Clark lifting the European Cup in Lisbon.

Clark, who formed the famous central defensive partnership with Billy McNeill during Celtic’s 1967 European Cup triumph, enjoyed a remarkable association with the club spanning more than 50 years, later serving as a coach, assistant manager and kitman.
