Story

In 2021 my wife Chloe and me lost our Baby boy Avery, he was stillborn at 25 weeks, this ignited a strong attachment to baby loss charities due to the support we received from them during this time,

In 2022 we had 2 further misscarriages, Baby C and Little Bean, again the support we received from various organisations was incredibly helpful, my wife raised money towards some of these charities,

Sadly in January of this year Chloe passed away very suddenly and without warning, so I feel like it rests with me to not only carry on what she started helping these charities, but doing so in hers and out babies memories,

Each year a week in October baby loss awareness week takes place (9th-15th this year), to remember and honour the babies we have lost and raise awareness to an aspect of life that doesn’t get talked about as much as it should, even though it effects a huge number of families yearly.

So I (with some people joining at various points) will be walking from Nottingham (the place I was the last time I ever spoke to Chloe) back to DRI (via Southwell, Ollerton, Retford & Bawtry) a journey of roughly 55 miles this will be overnight in one journey starting Thursday afternoon (12th) and aiming to be back to DRI roughly 19- 22 hours later.

The charities we are raising for are below with details of who they are and what they do.

Thank you in advance for any support you can offer, it’s amazingly appreciated at a time when many of us are struggling.

Serenity appeal - https://dbthcharity.co.uk/serenity-appeal/

A Doncaster/Bassetlaw based appeal aimed at improving the services offered to families going through baby loss at all stages, giving them a dedicated space which to process what’s happened. This is a charity Chloe personally raised money for, having gone through what we have if some of these improvements had been in place, it wouldn’t have taken any of the pain away, but would have certainly eased it a bit.

Henry’s Hope https://www.henryshopecharity.com

This local charity is aimed at families who have gone through baby loss, offering support and guidance, but also make some lovely keepsakes for families going through loss, Chloe personally attended a number of events through this charity and the friends and support she gained from it made a world of difference to her over the last few years, and I know she thought the absolute world of them.

We will also be making a few smaller donations to 4louis and aching arms, both of which among other things provide memory boxes and teddies to families going through baby loss, so I’m going to sponsor a couple of each in Chloe’s and out babies memories.
