    Story

Heidi has the life threatening condition of Ectopic Ureter, which not only leaves her incontinent and in pain, but can lead to failure of her kidneys. She is in the rescue care of the Entlebucher Mountain Dog Club of Great Britain and we want to give her a chance of a normal life.

Heidi is a fighter and, despite several operations and setbacks, she bounces back from everything thrown at her. We want to get her to the point of being well and being able to enjoy a forever home.

There is a further surgery available to her, which we hope will finally fix her incontinence, allowing her bladder to function properly, and therefore allow her to flush bacteria properly, preventing any further infections.

But we need to raise money for this and her continuing care.

Therefore our club is attempting to walk the distance from the Entlebuch region of Switzerland (where the breed began) to the Swiss Embassy in London - approximately 550 miles in total, which for a club of only 93 dogs is going to be a challenge!

And we will walk 500 miles...

20 Entlebucher Mountain Dogs who are starting walks on 7th October as sections of a combined 550 mile walk.

The walk will represent the distance from Entlebuch in Switzerland, where the breed originate, to the Swiss Embassy in London where the final leg of the walk will finish on 25th October and where the dogs will meet the Swiss Ambassador. There are only 93 of the Entlebucher breed in the UK so raising the total needed is hard work, but the group is determined.

Salvo and Izzy will start their walking in Bristol. Bella, Babeli, Senna, Cleo and Arthos will be walking in the London area and Heidi will be doing her bit in joining them some of the time. Koppa and Toby are walking near Bedford. Albie, Shadow, Wilma and Aristotle will walk in the York area. Buddy is walking for Heidi in Wales. Sybil, Basil, Dora, Eliot and Rigi are walking for Heidi in Berkshire.

Between 7th and 25th October we will update this page daily to tell you how far of the total walk we have covered and how the fund raising is going. We will be showing the dogs' names against the stages of the walk that their own walks represent so you can track our progress.

Although helping Heidi through walking is incentive in itself, it would be great if you would donate to the cause to raise the funds we need to ensure we can give Heidi the healthy life she deserves.

    Thank you!
