Story
I’m raising £450 for The Let’s Talk Project by walking Hadrian’s Wall in February 2026.
It’s 84 miles. Coast to coast. In winter. Shortly after my 45th birthday.
This is not a midlife crisis. I'm still working on that one! This is just how things seem to work out.
I co-founded The Let’s Talk Project with Michael. It exists for one simple reason: to make sure people have someone to talk to when things feel heavy and they don’t know where else to turn.
No judgement.
No waiting lists.
Just listening.
I’ve spent most Sundays for the last four years sitting with people who are struggling. Volunteers come and go, but the core team stays. In that time, we’ve helped hundreds of people locally. Not fixing. Not advising. Just turning up and listening.
That’s what the service does. Quietly. Consistently. And it works.
We don’t have an office anymore, so our costs are lower. But we still need to cover the unglamorous essentials. Insurance. Accountancy. DBS checks. Phone numbers. The boring bits that keep the service alive and reachable.
That’s what I’m raising this money for.
The walk itself felt appropriate. Long. Uncomfortable at times. A bit exposed. A reminder that some things are hard, but still worth doing. The wall’s been there nearly two thousand years. It won’t mind if I take my time.
If you can spare a few pounds, thank you. It really does help.
If you can’t, sharing this is just as valuable.
Either way, thanks for reading. And thanks for helping us keep Let’s Talk going.
