Story

Walking For Joshua

Joshua was our beautiful boy, calm and gentle from the day he was born he was an angelic baby in every way. At 5 weeks he developed a devastating meningitis and was taken off his ventilator a few days later. The next 11 days were an unreal journey from the PICU ward in John Radcliffe to Helen House Hospice Oxford and then finally Alexander Devine Hospice in Berkshire where he died on 23rd November 2021. While the situation was heartbreaking and gruelling, the support and kindness we met along the way was humbling.

In order to continue fundraising for Helen House Hospice and Alexander Devine Hospice my Mum, Joshua's Granny has organised for the two of us to walk from Hospice to Hospice, Joshua's final journey. We will be walking approximately 70 miles over the four day Easter Bank holiday weekend 15th-18th April 2022 along the Thames Path between Oxford and Maidenhead.

Children's Hospices recieve such a tiny proportion of their funding from the government - around 20%. The rest needs to be fundraised in order to offer vital services to families in need of respite or palliative care for their children. Please help us to make sure these vital services can continue to be offered to other families in desperate need.

(This has been set up as a crowd funding page in order to raise money for both charities. Donations will be split 50/50 between the two charities)
