Hello everyone xx

After watching our amazing lads complete their Wales to Wisbech challenge I felt immense pride and gratitude for their devotion and for sparking the launch of pedal4memories which is now a huge part of who we are. I also felt that maybe it was time I got my bum in gear and did something towards our fundraising and awareness project too.

So, here goes……

On the 23rd/24th July I will be attempting my Walk My Way 100km challenge xx

I will be walking blindfolded for 100km in a 10km circuits of Wisbech passing places that are part of our family journey xx

I am attempting to walk pretty much non stop with only comfort and absolutely necessary breaks depending on how I go. I am asking close friends and family if they would like to join me on my walk as either part of the walking group or as my guide for a circuit, part of a circuit,shared or anything really!

I would also love to hear your voices as I pass home or at any of our points of interest over the challenge. If you would like to join the group for any of the walking that would be amazing! Walking through the night it would be nice to have more than just me and my guide too xx

During training, 10km has been taking me 1hr40minutes but obviously being blindfolded and doing it continuously will add a lot of time to that as I go on. I am organising guides for 2hr slots to be adapted by Ben on the day/night/day lol and think I will be walking for around 30hours from 10am Saturday 23rd-4pm Sunday 24th ish xx

I have created this challenge with some inspiration from our darling friends BeMoreOscar and with the thought in my heart and mind that this is how our amazing boys see the world every single day. Taking away my vision will give me a real concept of how different things may feel and be and the movement difficulties and pure exhaustion emulates how so many of our batten children experience life.

Every step will be for our boys and their journey and for all of our Batten community and I know what as always you will be with me every step of the way xx

I have created a crowdfunding page and as always any money raised will be shared between our boys memory making fund and The Sibling Sanctuary Project at the BDFA which does the most amazing job. But, I know we have asked you all for sponsorship many times and so this time it’s more about sharing awareness and doing something that will hopefully make us all step into someone else’s shoes,if only for a day or two, and help us all to be more aware of each other xx
