As part of the non-profit charity Frontline Partnerhip The Gates is a horticultural venture that offers life skills learning, educative, social and therapeuitic opportunities to vunerable adults. Their aim is to promote independence, choice and inclusion in a safe and supportive environment. Since 2009 the team of staff, participants and volunteers have revamped and reinvigorated the disused Brentwood Borough plant nursery at the rear of the London Rd Cemetery to create a horticultural oasis. The project relies on client based placements payments and extensive fundraising. Last year proved to be extremely challenging for this excellent project as all fundraising was halted. My 29 year old son , who has Down syndrome, has been part of the Gates family for 13 years. In a bid to raise funds we have challenged our son to complete 4 half hour sessions on his exercise bike in one day, by the end of March, equivilant to 44km . He is currently training hard to reach his goal. Your donation will make a huge difference to the young adults attending and will ensure this project will continue to be a part of their lives.
