A few weeks ago, I was contacted by Cat, one of the Play Worker Specialists on the Children's Oncology ward at Clarendon Wing, LGI.
She was keen to book Boomchikkaboom to host a Halloween Rave for the children. We were already really busy over the spooky season, but we managed to arranged to visit the ward before hand to see what space we had available.
It was the first day of half term, so my 4 year old son Ziah and I headed over to the ward so get an idea of how we could make the rave a success.

As Ziah sat there, playing with a construction set, a boy of a similar age was behind him playing with a toy castle. This image stuck with me. A switch was activated and it struck me deep, that this could happen to anyone, at any time. I needed to do something to help.

Armed with a vague plan of action and by roping in friends, and fellow awesome local business', the following week we set up shop in The Pavilion on the ward.We managed to get a good number of children that came in and out during our time there and we smiled all day. After dinner, we visited each bed and gave them a tray of goodies and read stories. We fought back tears, as some children you could see fighting so much pain.

The children on the ward are aged 0-12. This Christmas we have been asked to go back , and have had a mass amount of people contact to ask how they can help.

So... we're asking for you to either drop a gift to one of our Boomchikkaboom events, so we can pass on to the children on our next visit. Alternatively, you can contribute to a fund that we can use to purchase some goodies for children and families on the ward that would make their family space "The Pavilion" even more spectacular.

You would be able to follow the story and hear about the happiness you have helped to achieve. We're on a mission, we have to make this Christmas MAGICAL for every child and for the families on Ward 31 this year.
