Ward 5 was set up in December 2022 as a winter ward for 6 months but due to its success the decision was made to open it permanently.

It is a delayed discharge ward for patients who are deemed "medically fit" to be discharged from Hospital and no longer require an acute Hospital bed but require further assistance. This assistance may be a package of care so that patients can go home with carers assisting them at home or, require a further stay in Community rehabilitation so they can access physiotherapy to improve their mobility before going home. Ward 5 is a safe environment to come and stay until a package of care or a rehab bed is found.

We are still in desperate need of new equipment. As a team we are continuously trying to raise funds with events like abseils, cake sales, carboots, raffles etc but the demand for new equipment is so high that we're not really touching the sides funds wise.

Our ward is in urgent need of recliner chairs for our patients which we currently don't have any of. These cost around £1000 each. Having these chairs on our ward would help our patients out in so many ways!

We also need to purchase new TV’s for our patients along with lots of other things that will help to make our patients expereince even better! 🫶🏼
