Warmis is the charity we worked with in the city of Cajamarca Peru and its surrounding countryside. This charity does amazing things in the community - helping farmers improve their sustainability, helping women develop skills, and providing education for children.
Warmis have had British funding withdrawn, because the economic situation in Peru is improving (which is great). What's not so great is that the economy in Cajamarca is in fact getting worse.
In light of this situation, Warmis is planning on opening a higher education institute in their main office in a town about 30 mins from Cajamarca. It would initially offer classes and certification in nursing, pharmacy and agricultural sciences. This would provide the local communities with more access to higher education, and eventually more health workers. it would also generate income for Warmis itself, gradually replacing the funding it has up until now received.
Warmis have etimated that it will cost around £20,000 to convert their office into a licensed school, which involves building a second floor and installing a small lab for the students.
