Weʼve raised £430 to drive the 4000 mile Banjul Challenge, (stay sane & alive) to support charities in Gambia by donating our well travelled car.

Funded on Friday, 1st February 2019

    Story

Our journey now starts in December 2019.

When a mate of mine said: “I’ve never really done much for charity.” it struck a chord with me. He then described how he was going to complete an arduous desert drive & kindly donate his car to charity at the end in Gambia. Of course being a mate of mine means he is hopeless & changed his mind! (Bob 2020?)

So after a chat with long time chum Phil Huke we decided we would do it. It’s a bit of a wheeze and involves driving from Warner HQ In Brittany to Phil in Tarifa, Spain & then heading south through Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania and Senegal, arriving (completely unscathed and beautifully tanned) in Banjul in The Gambia.

At that end we donate our car to the Charities Control Committee. The vehicles are subsequently auctioned and the funds raised are distributed to local worthy causes such as orphanages.

So: it’s about 4000 miles to the finish. Once there we scratch our heads and wonder how to get home. Although the car is the main charitable donation as you can imagine there are some significant costs along the way to achieve this. This is the area I’m asking you for a little contribution. Oil, petrol, blood, sweat, tears, beers, visas, bribes, planes, ferries & anti-biotics!

It’s starts late December this year & we are aiming to complete it in about three weeks when we will return older, wiser and a little smug for finishing the rally and having helped out someone less fortunate than people in our position.

Hope you can help, if you do we promise not to

bore you with any stories on our return!
